I didn't plan to become a caregiver. It started over a decade ago when I began working with a deaf autistic young man who needed a different kind of support than most people knew how to give. That experience taught me patience and showed me I had a natural ability to connect with people who needed someone willing to slow down and meet them where they were.
Over the years I kept helping seniors who needed an extra hand with daily life. It was never my main career but it stuck with me because it mattered.
Then it got personal. I became the full-time caregiver for my own parents and found myself navigating dementia care firsthand. I learned how to stay calm when things get hard and how much it means to have someone you can actually count on. Matt Cares exists because I've lived this and I know how much the right person showing up changes everything.
Matt Cares isn't an agency. There's no rotating staff, no intake coordinators, no strangers learning your routine from scratch every week. It's me. Same person every time, building a real relationship with the people I help and the families behind them.
I also offer something most caregivers don't: patient, in-home tech support. Smartphones, tablets, email, streaming, passwords, scam awareness. All in plain English with no jargon and no rush. Staying connected to family and the world around you is a big part of staying independent and I'm here to make that easier.
